My Sketch-up Park
I wanted my park to be separated by different sections but also have a way of coming together. In my park, I have a fountain, a river, a cafe, an eating space, a grassy space, a playground and a sculpture garden. I decided to add a river because it is a peaceful attribute which is a contrast to a big and busy city. People could walk around this river and observe it as a way to relax and get away from their busy life in a city. I also wanted to have many eating spaces in my park which required having somewhere to eat. This is why I added tables and a cafe. People working in the city usually do not have time to have a full lunch so a cafe is a great place to get snacks. In the park I added 4 tables, each for 4 people. These tables can be used by everyone. People who work nearby, everyday people and tourists. To add on to the peaceful aspect of this park, I added an open space with grass only. I originally wanted this space to have a large table but I eventually decided that that was unnecessary. In front of this open space I added a sculpture garden. I was inspired by the UCLA sculpture garden very close to my house. I have visited that sculpture garden around 30 times and wanted to create something like it. I also wanted to add a different level to this sculpture garden to make it seem more important. Next to cafe, I added a fountain. Fountains are beautiful and are large so they take up room. People of all ages enjoy having a fountain around them. Finally, even though this is a city park, I added a playground. There are always kids walking round the city with their parents and having a playground is a great way for them to have fun. I made this playground simple and interactive.
